David Smith
is the Founder of Motorsports Analytics and serves as a statistics and scouting consultant in the NASCAR industry. From 2011 to 2012, he was a talent scout and client manager at Spire Sports + Entertainment and held a similar position at Motorsports Management International from 2007 to 2011. He launched the first subscription-based motorsports scouting network, DavidSmithMotorsports.com, in July 2004.

Smith, 32, unveiled MotorsportsAnalytics.com as a rebranding/refocusing of DavidSmithMotorsports.com in February 2012, taking advanced statistical concepts he created for evaluating drivers and teams and bringing them to a subscription-based website available to the public. The website has been featured in USA Today and Sports Business Daily and on NBC Sports Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s NASCAR Channel.

Smith was born in Talladega, Ala. and raised in Daytona Beach. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Central Florida. He currently resides in Charlotte.
